i read the news today, oh boy

my scribbled thoughts

This corner is my side blog. Do not frequent here if you only expect cozy reads. I made this page to document my reactions in short paragraphs: current events, historical findings, entertainment, wellness, the weather and mundaneoutings. Yes, I'm a simple gal who likes to talk about cute sparkly dresses and pretty ribbons. However, I do have strong opinions which can probably make a fasc melt.

Reasons to find friends in your proximinity: I made a blog entry about how my refrigerator malfunctioned for the third time. Just imagine how relieving it would be if friends nearby temporarily offer food refrigeration? You wouldn't have to worry about food going to waste! & You can offer your friends some things in return for helping out. I need to push my social bubble outside of online art communities and beyond just saying "heyyy, sup" everytime I pass by ny neighbors.

My sister reposted this. This is madness. As much as you can, I hope you all do your research and avoid supporting businesses that funds this destruction. The Organic Boycott Target is pretty doable if you're not in a food desert region! Sometimes WcDonalds would release Pokemon, Halloween bucket Sappy Meals and I'm like "cute, but I'm not buying them". Nothing wrong with wanting a burger meal & sweet treats, but there are literally mom-and-pop shops that sells them...like support small businesses?

Don't forget the daily clicks.

I'm not going to link articles on a particular report that has been circulating on every feed, but Imani (Crutches & Spices) have worded her response so nicely, like always.

"...when that many people have the potential to be disgruntled, have the potential to be angry over their treatment by healthcare companies, who's to say?..."

In a way, I also felt the outcome was predictable. I actually had a conversation with my mom two years ago on the matter of housing costs, health benefits and such...we both agreed that so many people "would get upset" if their essential needs gets denied. Then this very thing happened.

Lately I've been getting some San Francisco vids on my feed. Came across this creator, Tao Slice of Life Trips. I no longer live in the North Bay but I bookmarked her videos incase I have to head back for whatever reason. They're basically suggestive itineraries made for those who are local to the city who are in need of a break. The little trips she suggested are $0-$20 (probably doesn't cost anything if you skip the food/drinks).

When I was living in the North Bay, some of my most favorite excursions to SF has been mostly because of errands. Often times, we're usually in a places away from the touristy hot spots; I've always felt awed by the sceneries in random neighborhoods. During the winter time on an evening strolls around Sunset neighborhood, Bern and I would spot Christmas trees at the windows, with warm lights.

This is vague (that's okay because this blog is mostly for myself), I've been following a blog (not anyone who interacts on Neocities but has a backup on this site) who has some good views on certain things, retaining to leftist values. Pretty dissapointed on their neutral opinion regarding to a literal on-going gen0c1de that hasn't even stopped. I would not call it a 'war' if one side has been getting slaughtered; hospitals and schools obliterated. Generations of families wiped out. It's one of the reasons why I think it's sometimes* important to not dismiss "annoying social media" on hand for the primary sources that were documented (because of life & death matters). I hope this individual gains a better perspective-- I'll have to see their recent log update! You cannot call yourself a leftist in any way if you're neutral on this subject// or unbothered by the countless lives that were taken.

*= Annoying social media can certaintly have a lot of flaws, not saying it is perfect. Like with corporate news, we stil rely on information about the weather. At times, it can be a window to reality- like Bisan's documentation, for instance.

I just learned about the E. Coli outbreak from carrots. I'm a big carrot eater. Be sure to toss them out if you got the recalled brands!

Everytime I land on a video of a picturesque recreation from my homestate, there are always Californians leaving sarcastic comments like, "wow, lovely place in Bakersfield" or "I love the snow in Fresno". Yes, I get it... Bakersfield, Fresno, Oakland, Stockon & San Bernardino are not super glamorous cities. Let's not trash-talk places that has affordable living-- people have found a community in those cities and are in the process of making the best of it. I used to work with clients who has been pretty insensitive towards affordable cities, so it was frustrating to hear them (they don't even live there). My parents and I used to frequent to Oakland's Chinatown every other weekend: grocery shopping for inacessible ingredients, getting haircuts, bakery visits & noodle shops. Bakersfield got some thriving subcultures and punk shows. One of the most based persons runs a co-opt fashion business and is from Fresno (my besties are from there)! Like can you pls be nice to those cities? They're gems to a lot of people.

To the Californians that voted, "No" on Prop 6. Do you hate people? Either you all need to work on your literacy or you all are just vile AF. Devaluing any skills or labor hurts us all.

I don't have much else to say because I already knew what to expect, been so used to seeing people who haven't been class-conscious & just straight up class reductionist. I can't be surpised because I worked with people who were comfortable with demonizing the poor as if I would agree with them. The comments like, "Oh yes, beautiful day in Vallejo /s" pretty much sums up their disconnection. Don't worry, I've also had wonderful clients who don't share that anti-social world view...and I hope they are all doing well!

A rhetorical question I've been asking myself for awhile: do true crime fans ever look into the crimes made by the See-Eye-Ehh? Or are they not localized enough for them to be intrigued? Or are crimes committed by people in uniforms and gears just don't count? Do not answer these questions.

Imagine not being able to drink clean water for the majority of your life. I'm glad a region in British Colombia were able to receive funding for a water treatment plant.

Another new hobby honed: archiving things from the internet. Someone left a comment about how we don't want another "The Library of Alexandria" situation going on again.

Fake spiderwebs are pretty bad for insects and birds. I don't own a home yet, but that's something to keep in mind. I'll let my freinds and families know about this.

If you have any vents in your house (like bathroom vents): please keep them clean! With the lack of maitenance, they can be fire hazardous! Wow, I learned another new thing today. I feel my HVAC relatives would be pretty adamant about keeping vents clean.

For those who are able to: donate/ retweet . Here's the organizer's twitter.

I just learned that we have an iv fluid shortage nation-wide. Apparently one of the companies that supplies them were affected by the hurricane. I hope that's there enough for those who are in need of them for the time being.

Been keeping tabs on Kroger's tech plans.

I woke up with a bit of an acid reflux this morning..ended up having oatmeal afterwards. I think I'll try to do my extensive exercise today and tidy up my apartment. Not sure if our friend wants to hang out with us this weekend.

This news isn't anything surprising for me but this harrowing image will forever haunt me. That person happened be to be a nineteen year old softweare engineering student named Sha'ban Al-Dalou . This monstrosity needs to stop.

If you're from the States, do some research on your local elections. Remember to keep up with the BDS movement. At the very least, keep off of McD0nald's, D0mino's Pizza, & Burg3r King. If you're like me, and you live in an area abundant of family-owned food businesses and you're not in a food desert city, it's very do-able! C'mon, you can do it.
